The organizers of the Pirate Hunt competition has decided this year to publish the results of the competition without the rankings. It has been alleged that listeners with SDR receivers are in a better position than listeners with normal receivers, so in order to avoid unnecessary displeasure, we decided to solve the problem this way. Many thanks to all participants.

When we first decided to run the competition, our idea was to have a nice Easter activity without strict rules. Just relaxing and having fun. Over the years, perhaps the right criticisms have been made of competition: our choices were to either renew the competition or put the competition to a break. Since both of the organizers do not organize competitions for the day job and we noticed that our original idea is disappearing into the requirements jungle. So far we have decided to put the competition on hold.

We warmly thank all the competitors who have participated over the years, as well as those who thankfully published our competition announcements on their website. Thanks and FFFR!

Pirate Hunt 2019 results:

After so many missed FM openings during work days, a crazy idea of setting up a Yagi in work has finally come true. Just few steps from Petäjävesi Radio and Telephone Museum, where I do work, is located an amateur radio station OG6M.

The station building is now equipped with a 5 element Yagi and Sony XDR-F1HD (with GTK modification, but currently running without it).

After first test listening the location seemed to be fair for FMDX. The band is surprisingly free from local stations compared to my home QTH, even it is just 27 km away. During the test listening Estonian Radio Elmar 91.7 (372 km / 7.5 kW) could be added to the bandscan (must be a regular station there). Such a distance indicates always good. Only in the next day I happened to hear already first SpE stations in this new QTH during a short opening to Benelux. So no more missed ES openings because of the work! In addition there are many free frequencies, which are blocked in my home QTH. FMDX results from radio museum can be found here.

Central Finland is going to have a thick forest of Yagis, when JJH’s remote station will be rocking and ready, just 8 kilometres from OG6M.

Asemabongari 2019 on vuosittainen kilpailu, jossa kilpaillaan QSL-korttien määrän sijasta siitä kuka kuulee vuoden aikana eniten asemia. Kisan säännöt on pyritty tekemään mahdollisimman suoraviivaiseksi, jotta mahdollisimman monen olisi helppoa osallistua kisaan.

Kisassa on vastaava jaottelu kuin QSL kilpailussa, mutta näiden lisäksi kelpuutetaan myös piraatti- ja utility-asemat. Pisteet lasketaan siis kategorioissa Eurooppa (EU), Brittein saaret (BS), Iberia (IB), Afrikka (AF), Aasia (AS), Oseania (OS), Pohjois-Amerikka (NA), Keski-Amerikka (CA), Etelä-Amerikka (SA), FM, Piraatit (PIR) ja Utility (UTE).

Omat laskelmansa voi lähettää allekirjoittaneelle osoitteella: jjh@sdxl.org - Avaamme myös sivustolle http://bbs.fmdx.tk oman osion, jonne halutessaan voi säännöllisesti käydä listaamassa kuulemiaan asemia. Tämä toki on vapaaehtoista eli kisailmoitukseen riittää maaosakohtaisesti lasketut pisteet. Välitilannetta voisimme tutkia tarkemmin vaikkapa Radiomaailman numerossa 3/2019, jonka Stop Date on 22.5.2019 ja loppuvuoden lehdessä 6/2019, jonka Stop Date on 30.10.2019 sen mukaan miten intoa ja aktiivisuutta riittää. Lopulliset tulokset julkaistaan lehdessä numero 2/2020.

Laskenta:

Jokainen kalenterivuonna 2019 kuultu asema antaa pisteen. Piraateissa pistelaskenta noudattaa samaa kaavaa kuin yleinenkin laskenta, mutta sen lisäksi selkeyden vuoksi myös jokainen uusi aseman nimi antaa pisteen. Toisin sanoen jos Radio X lähettää samana vuonna uudella nimellä Y, voi siitä laskea itselleen uuden pisteen. Utility laskenta noudattaa samoja linjoja kuin yleinenkin laskenta eli jokainen tunnistettu asema antaa pisteen. Erillisiä maapisteitä ei lasketa. Asema lasketaan kuulluksi kun se on tunnistettu joko itse, aseman tai muiden harrastajien toimesta.

Kisailmoitus:

Ilmoituksessa olisi pisteiden lisäksi tarpeellista näkyä nimesi lisäksi SDXL nimimerkki tai jäsennumero, sillä kisa on tarkoitettu Suomen DX-Liiton jäsenille.

Yes! Pirate Hunt Comes Again! Traditional Easter contest will be held 4th time during Easter 2019 (April 19th – April 21st).

We try to keep rules simple:

-log as many PIRATE stations as possible between April 19th 0000 UTC and April 21st 2359 UTC

-all bands are accepted but only stations without license are counted (no relays by legal stations) Stations with many names shall be counted only once.

-ID has to be heard or identification should be otherwise confirmed. QSL or recording is not necessary.

-post your full logs on forum (http://bbs.fmdx.tk/index.php?topic=478.0), FMDX.tk Facebook group or by e-mail staff @ radioaktiiviset.info, during or after the contest (but until May 21st, 2019)

-participating is free for anyone and all participants will receive a diploma later

-results will be published in end of May
